FAQ's
1. What
is your definition of PR
photography?
Pictures can tell a
story better than words and potentially achieve national coverage on
their own. PR photography can cover many areas – from product
launches and celebrity endorsements to awards evenings and public
stunts. The best PR photography keeps it simple, subtle and
fun.
2. What should you look for in a
PR photographer? When commissioning a
professional photographer, you want to make sure you are using a
photographer with ‘Fleet Street’ experience – someone who is used to
seeing their work in newspapers and who has the contacts on picture
desks to get that work seen.
3. How
does PR photography differ from reportage
photography? My ultimate aim is to
produce PR material that will work in newspapers as easily as it
will work in brochures or reports. I always work closely with my
clients to identify the most newsworthy picture opportunities from
their campaign or event.
4. What are
Picture Editors looking for from PR
photography? Ultimately they’re looking
for good newsworthy pictures. As a former Picture Editor I know they
don’t have time to read press releases closely. They just want to
see great photos that can sit in their paper well. By keeping it
simple, subtle and fun, wherever possible, you won’t go far
wrong.
5. How quickly can you turn
images around. Very quickly. Images can
be provided in the format required, edited on site, and wired
directly to picture desks if required. They can also be made
available online to view/ download within a few hours. A CD of
high-resolution images can also be
supplied.
6. Who owns the copyright
of the images? All my commercial
images can be licensed for your particular usage requirements.
Copyright remains with Tony Marsh Photography unless otherwise
agreed.
7. What do you mean by
web-ready video? I have the facility to
shoot high-definition video that can be compressed for web-use and
can also be combined with high-resolution stills for greater impact.
8. What equipment do you
use? I use only professional Nikon
digital camera equipment and professional lighting
systems.
9. How long have you been a
professional photographer? I have been
an experienced professional photographer for over 20
years.
